BJJ Belt Tracker — Every Stripe. Every Promotion. Full Ceremony.
Short answer: Mat Quest tracks adult BJJ belts — white, blue, purple, brown, black, four stripes each — on the honor system. You can backfill past promotions with real dates. Your pixel-art fighter evolves through five belt forms, and promotions get a full-screen celebration.
Real belts come years apart. Mat Quest tracks every stripe in between — and makes each one feel like NEW FORM UNLOCKED.

How BJJ belt progression works
Adult BJJ runs white → blue → purple → brown → black, with up to four stripes per belt. Timelines vary by gym, schedule and athlete; the IBJJF sets minimum time at each belt for adults — 2 years at blue, 1.5 at purple and 1 at brown — and its graduation system lists black belt at "18 years old or older", with promotion at 18 tied to having won the Adult World Championship at brown belt. Honor system
Stripes are your coach’s call, not an app’s. Mat Quest doesn’t verify promotions; you log what you were given. Backfill old promotions with their real dates so your history is complete from day one.
CHARACTER SELECTThe character evolution
Pick one of six original 16-bit fighters: Rico (Pressure), Yuki (Throws), Slim (Guard), Tank (Takedowns), Maya (Berimbolo) and Kenji (Old School). Your fighter gets stronger and grittier with each belt: six fighters, five belt forms each.
Celebrations, not checkboxes
Belts and stripes trigger full-screen VICTORY celebrations with haptics, and feed your XP ladder.
